Kapamilya actress Chie Filomeno took to social media to address the online criticisms and bashing she has received in recent weeks.
On her Instagram page, Chie called out people who continue to belittle her despite already sharing her side of the story.
“Lagi naman ganun, no? When you finally stand up for yourself, some people will still find something to criticize or belittle you. If I stay silent, I’m guilty. Tagal niyo na ganyan—kahit anong issue, kahit sinong artista—wala pa rin kayong pagbabago hanggang ngayon. And then if I speak up, kasalanan ko na naman or i’m guilty,” Chie wrote.
The Can’t Buy Me Love actress said she has learned how to deal with harsh comments, choosing her battles wisely.
“I’ve already addressed these things before; ayaw ko na maging sirang plaka tulad niyo. Like I said—people will believe what they want to believe. Since patolera daw ako (kayo na rin nagsabi niyan 😌), I choose my battles wisely. Okay, this time… I’ll make patol,” she added.
Chie also condemned netizens who continue to post hurtful comments about her and her loved ones.
“I will not allow anyone to belittle me especially the people close to my heart. I’ve seen how some hide behind dummy accounts, private profiles, or worse—create new ones just to hurt others. That’s not right. Not right at all. Tigilan niyo na, please.” she stated.
She emphasized that she is using her platform to remind people about respecting others’ boundaries.
“I’m choosing to use my platform—this is me using my platform. It might not do much, but it’s about time people understand their boundaries. I will speak when I feel it’s necessary—dahil tao pa rin ako. Tao pa rin kami,” she remarked.
The actress ended her post by urging everyone to focus on more important matters.
“Ang ingay-ingay na ng mundo natin. Mas mabuti unahin na lang natin ang mas mahalagang bagay, tulad ng flood control at ang malakas na lindol sa Cebu at Davao. Let’s also pray for those affected by the earthquake and the floods. Hindi yung buhay ng ibang tao ang inaatupag niyo. 🤍,” she said.
Chie’s statement came amid rumors linking her to businessman Matthew Lhuillier following her reported breakup with actor Jake Cuenca.
Earlier this month, Chie appealed to the public to stop spreading rumors about her personal life.
"I've been reading and hearing a lot these past few days, and I ask that my past relationship, my present life, and the Lhuillier family be left out of this issue," she posted on her Instagram Story on Monday, September 29. "They don’t deserve to be dragged into something that has nothing to do with them."
She also asked everyone to refrain from speculating about her private affairs, saying, "No further statements will be made at this time, and I kindly ask that people refrain from speculation or intrusions into my private affairs. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.”
A week later, Jake Cuenca addressed their breakup rumors, saying he has accepted that the chapter of his life is over.
“I’m good at least, parang it’s a lot to take, di ba? Andaming nangyayari andaming sinasabi ng mga tao. I can officially say that chapter of my life is over now. To be quite honest with you parang I can at least say that I really loved that person deeply. For me, I respect that person until today,” Jake shared.
