Seasoned actress Sylvia Sanchez has been keeping busy in recent months with various projects. Her production company, Nathan Studios, recently held a concert featuring Juan Karlos and promoted the action film Topakk, which is part of the Metro Manila Film Festival 2024.
With so much on her plate, Sylvia shared that she only gets to see her grandchild, the child of daughter Ria Atayde and husband Zanjoe Marudo, once a week.
“Ang apo ko, sa sobrang busy ko noong kay JK na concert na katatapos lang, at katatapos ko lang ito (Topakk), ngayon, December 25, na talagang tututukan ko, once a week—once a week ko na lang nakikita ang apo ko,” she said.
Although she is busy, Sylvia keeps in touch with her grandchild through video calls.
“Sunday na lang, pero araw-araw kong vinivideo call, yun. Pero wala, every Sunday na lang kasi hiwalay kami ng tirahan ni Ria at Zanjoe,” Sylvia added.
Sylvia also shared how she already made a pact to the couple on looking after her grandchild.
“So sabi ko naman, hayaan mo, kayo na muna mag-asawa kayo (ang mag-alaga) habang baby. Pero ingat kayo pag lumaki ‘yan dahil akin 'yan,” she laughingly said.
Despite her busy schedule, Sylvia still finds time to rest, especially during the holidays.
“Sa Pasko, magkasama kami kasi New Year. Tsaka New Year, magkasama kami. So, yun yung pahinga ko,” Sylvia said. “Pasko at New Year, doon ako—doon lang ako makakapagpahinga talaga.”
Although her Christmas Day will be filled with Topakk promotions, Sylvia plans to return home in the evening to celebrate with her family.
“Uwi na lang ako sa gabi. Buti na lang mag-spend kami ng Pasko sa bahay ng buong father-in-law ko, sa mother-in-law ko. So, libre ako sa handa. Wala akong iisipin. So doon ko na lang yung pagpahinga ko, yung pinaka-pahinga ko sa Pasko is yung paglaro ko sa apo ko,” she expressed.
The actress turned producer also shared her Christmas wishes for her eldest children and in-laws.
“Christmas wish for more, more, more, more kids. Marami pang anak para makaagaw ako kahit isa lang sa inyo,” Sylvia said referring to Ria and Zanjoe.
For son Arjo and wife Maine Mendoza, Sylvia said, “Mahalin niyo yung isa't isa. Huwag niyong pabayaan ang sarili niyo at kailangan niyong bigyan ng time ang isa't isa. Parehas silang busy 'e. 'Yun lang.”
Looking ahead to 2025, Sylvia is already planning new projects, including another film entry for the Metro Manila Film Festival.
“January 15, 14 ba? Meron kaming Buffalo Kids. Yung nakita niyo kanina. Yung mga binili ko rin abroad. Ipapalabas ko, meron akong January 14, meron ako February 12 na palabas. Tapos, meron akong, magsho-shoot kami ng January, February na bagong movie para sa Metro Manila Film Fest 2025,” she teased.

Sylivia is the COO of Nathan studios, Inc, which she manages alongside her children Ria And Arjo. In a previous interview, the actress shared her dreams for producing films.
“Masaya ako na nagpo-produce kasi hindi habang buhay artista lang ako. I’m not a good writer, I’m not a good director, but I have ideas that I want to do and I’m able to do, like I’m able to collaborate with directors (filmmakers), which is what happened in Misis Piggy. I accepted and produced it, as well as Cattleya Killer,” she said.
