ABS-CBN broadcaster Karen Davila recently took part in the TEDx IMPACT talk as UN Women Philippines Goodwill Ambassador.

Karen became a speaker for TEDx IMPACT, with the topic "The Long Road To NO: Why It’s A Skill Worth Years Of Training For Women."

"Saying NO is an essential life skill. And for women, the younger they learn it, the more empowered they become," she said in an Instagram post as she shared the snapshots from the event.

"Not easy - with centuries of patriarchal systems, societal norms, women have to fight that collective history that has raised us to acquiesce," she said.

She went on: "Enjoyed sharing and writing this talk! Thank you for having me πŸ‡΅πŸ‡πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡³."

Friends and fans online were quick to congratulate Karen.

"Omg?! Would love to hear this talk!! Great topiccccccc πŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ”₯ and so true!! Congratulations!!" Bianca Gonzalez wrote.

"Wow!!! Congratulations Ms. Karen ❀️ Beautiful!!" one fan wrote.

It was in September 2023 when Karen was appointed as an ambassador for UN Women. She was officially welcomed to the organization by UN Women Asia Pacific Regional Director Alia El-Yassir as the first UN Women Philippines Goodwill Ambassador in Thailand.

She traveled to New York in October 2023 for a courtesy visit to United Nations (UN) Women Executive Director Sima Bahous.

"It is an honor to be UN Women’s first National Goodwill Ambassador for the Philippines. I will be working with many others who speak out in support of UN Women to help bring about positive change in mindsets, behaviors, and hopefully, in the everyday lives of women and girls," Karen posted in October of last year.

Back in January, Karen led the launching of the four-year country program of the UN Women in the Philippines.

"Last January 18, UN Women Philippines launched its 4 year country programs including the UN Women Mentoring & Leadership Program. I am really excited because this focuses on women in regions outside NCR," Karen posted on social media back in January.

She further shared: "As Goodwill Ambassador, we launched our first program in partnership with UP - the SHE STEMS Scholarship Awards. This 2024, we will be awarding 12 Filipina STEM college students in need with a minimum 1.75 GPA (cum laude standing) with at least P120,000 a year for their studies. Awardees need to commit to pursuing a career in STEM in the Philippines."
