MANILA -- Passion and quality films. Here are some of the reasons why actress Jennylyn Mercado started her own production company.
Together with her husband Dennis Trillo, Mercado decided to put up their own production company, which they named Brightburn Entertainment.
"Sa loob ng 20 years [nakita namin] kung paano ang galawan sa industriya, so kami ngayon naisip namin na bakit hindi tayo mag-produce," the actress said in an interview.
"Kasi isa 'yun sa mga passion namin ni Dennis e, lalo na kapag may mga project na pumapasok, gusto natin ng magandang script gusto natin na 'yung production na gagawa ng pelikula namin ay maayos, maganda 'yung release," she added.
With the help of other passionate film workers, Mercado believes that this is a great start for them to share and produce quality films in different platforms.
"Sa pagiging meticolous namin gusto namin ilatag namin 'yun doon sa production namin, gusto namin i-apply lahat nung mga kaalaman namin doon sa production namin," she said.
"So nag-decide kami na gumawa ng siyempre gusto namin quality films, magandang script, magaling 'yung writer, maganda rin 'yung platform kung saan namin ilalabas, kaya nag-decide kami na gumawa ng sarili naming production house."
As she embarks on filmmaking and producing, the actress also clarified that she remained open to working with different film producers.
"Siyempre hindi naman doon 'yun magsasara na hindi na kami puwedeng gumawa sa iba. Gagawa pa rin naman kami sa iba pero siyemre, gusto namin makagawa ng quality na pelikula," she said.
And despite her negotiation for her management contract with GMA Network, the actress said she continued to receive support and was in talks for a collaboration project.
"Oo naman sobrang suportado kami ng aming network. Soon ia-announce namin ang aming first project and excited kami doon," she said.
